MFAH and Food trucks

For our first adventure, we chose to go to the Museum of Fine Arts of Houston! On Saturday, they held “The Houston Museum Experience” event. We dropped by the Waffle Bus parked across the street from the museum for our first food truck experience. It all sounded very exciting, but Houston at noon proved too much to handle. By the time we got our waffle fries and waffles, I felt too grumpy to say anything.

Fortunately for me, the air conditioning inside the museum cooled her off to a much more agreeable temperament. We considered participating in a tour, but then decided that we’d find exploring on our own more interesting, not to mention more adventurous. First off, we headed down to the Manipulated Photography exhibit, brought over from the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
We both found the examples showcased extremely fascinating, and I was very surprised to learn that many of the iconic photos of the past actually were composites of many different exposures. In group shots, for example, each person would be taken separately, and later everyone would be pasted together. Next, we headed through the Light Tunnel to the exit.
Before we left, we both tried our luck at a prize wheel, from which I won a set of notecards and Peter won a Cleopatra bear. Not bad for our first adventure!

The bus itself looks like it's cooking under the heat

Not sure if this was the best meal for a hot day

Introducing Cleobear

Hello, World!

Welcome to Plasmic Spheres, a weekly (at least) blog dedicated to the adventures of Alice and Peter as they spend their summer after high school and enter college. We’ll be writing about the many new experiences (or nostalgic moments) we’re looking forward to in the coming months.

We also greatly appreciate reader participation via the comments; even if we don’t know you, we’re excited to meet you!
